Personal Statement template

Canonical template for the Personal Statement format.

## Opening
[A specific scene, moment, or realization. Drop the reader into something real. Do not open
with a credential list, a dictionary definition, or an announcement of the goal.]
## Experience and evidence
[The relevant experience, education, or development that connects the opening to the goal.
Each element should answer the reader's implicit question: "What does this show about you?"]
## Why this goal
[The specific motivation for this program, school, or opportunity - not why you want this in
general, but why this one, and what you bring that fits what it is selecting for.]
## Future fit
[Where you are going and how this opportunity is the next necessary step. Be specific about
what you intend to do with it.]
## Closing
[Return to the opening or land on a forward-looking image. The evaluator should finish the
page seeing a person, not a resume.]
