Ethics & Values Deliberation

The Ethics & Values Deliberation domain. 3 frameworks in this family. Each is graded honestly; see the evidence model for the tiers.

These frameworks work on the values dimension of a decision: not which option scores highest on your own criteria, but whose wellbeing, autonomy, and fairness are at stake, and what a position that holds up across all the affected parties actually looks like. The shared move is to refuse the frame’s default answer to “good for whom” and make the moral structure explicit, by removing your own position from the choice, by gridding stakeholders against principles, or by naming the harms a success would create. Reach here when a decision carries a real moral trade-off and the honest answer is contested, not when a single clear criterion already settles it. The evidence in this family is thinner than the decision families, and each skill says so on its face: these structure a deliberation, they do not adjudicate it.

FrameworkEvidenceWhat it does
Ethical MatrixPProduces an ethical matrix, a grid that cross-references affected parties (rows, deliberately including voiceless ones such as future generations and the environment) against prima facie principles (columns of wellbeing, autonomy, fairness), specifying the option’s impact in every cell and reading the result as a trade-off pattern rather than a score.
Speculative Harms and Anti-GoalsAProduces an anti-goals register by assuming a design succeeds at scale, narrating the near-future in which that success harms third parties (including non-users) and is exploited in bad faith by named bad actors, then converting each speculated harm into a standing design constraint bound into the requirements.
Veil-of-Ignorance ReasoningMProduces a veiled-decision comparison that decides a values trade-off as if the decider had an equal chance of being any affected party, under an explicit decision rule, then returns to the positioned decision and names the gap that self-interest was silently driving.

Not sure which of these fits your situation? The Framework Advisor will diagnose the job and recommend a minimal sequence.
